Staff Guides & Facilitators

Global Eco Journey leaders take you deep into the rainforest with the utmost safety, care, dedication and enthusiasm. Our exceptional hands-on learning techniques set the tone for each trip.

Our staff members have diverse professional backgrounds. They will provide invaluable insights into many areas as you journey with them through the mysterious and breath-taking Amazonas. With their vast knowledge and wisdom of ecosystems, languages and customs of the Amazonian native land our teachers will make your journey an enjoyable, unforgettable, life-changing experience.

Dr. Bernardo D. Peixoto is an anthropologist, environmentalist and teacher. He is also a member of Ure- e-wau- wau tribe of Brazil and cofounder of Native Cultural Alliance, an organization dedicated to the preservation and sharing of native cultures and wisdom. He has worked for many years with the tribal and "riverine" groups in South America. Bernardo and his wife, Jenny, have traveled extensively over the past 10 years offering lectures and workshops in different states.

Jenny C. Toscano is also an anthropologist, native of Peru and wife of Dr. Peixoto. She is a teacher, researcher of traditional herbal medicine and conducts fieldwork with the indigenous people of South America. She also assists in the development of environmental programs and trips to the Amazon. She currently serves as the Coordinator of Programs with the Native Cultural Alliance (NCA).

Leo Moran's background is in teaching and leading groups of children and adults on cultural exchange programs. Long a proponent of experiential learning and an advocate of the importance of honoring ourselves and the earth by preserving cultures and ancient wisdom; his passion for wild places and environmental concerns has brought him to develop an experiential program for children, offering educational environmental activities in his community. Leo is from Argentina and speaks fluent Spanish Portuguese. He has worked as a volunteer and translator for many years for different environmental non-profit organizations in North and South America. He is a member of Native Cultural Alliance.

Eiwe Lingefors is an information security and computer networking expert with a passion for cultural preservation. He is not a teacher by formal means but is always striving to inform those around him about the importance of retaining the knowledge of indigenous people and to responsibly educate their children. Eiwe is currently serving as an advisor and technical consultant for the NCA as well as being a team leader and facilitator on Global Eco Journey trips.

Native Guides and Teachers provide special knowledge throughout the program. Their wisdom and observation of Amazonian issues, flora, fauna, native customs, traditional medicine, folklore, handcrafts, fishery and more, will be discussed by accompanying our journey staff members.
